SUV rolls-over into utility pole, live wires land ontop of it. : A Chevy Tahoe drove through a Round Lake neighborhood hitting mailboxes and driving through front yards before it hit a large rock in someones front yard which put the SUV airborn hitting a tree about five feet in the air, started rolling and then a large utility pole, snapping it in half. The SUV landed on it's side with the driver partially ejected. Powerlines were down ontop of the vehicle and also in a few places around the area, causing grass, bushes and fences to catch fire. The Round Lake FPD secured the scene until ComEd arrived and turned of the power to the live lines. Round Lake firefighters then extricated the victim and transported her to a local hospital.

Car rolls-over after collision on Rt. 12 : Two vehicles collided on Rt. 12 and Molidor Rd in Volo causing one vehicle to roll-over, trapping the driver. The Fox Lake FD extricated one person from the vehicle on its side and the patients from the other vehicle were removed by both Fox Lake and Round Lake firefighters.

Semi leaves path of destruction in Round Lake. : A semi traveling westbound on Rt.120 in Round Lake crossed the center line and hit the rear wheels of a semi tractor going eastbound and then proceded to hit the car traveling behind the eastbound semi knocking it off the road. The other cars in the path of the semi were able to drive into a field to escape the truck taveling in there lane. The truck then somehow still continued down the road for about 200 yards before digging into the dirt and shrubs behind some homes. The driver of the car that was hit by the semi received bad injuries to his arm which was resting on his door during impact. After Round Lake RPD firefighters extricated the victim he was flown by Flight For Life to Milwaukee to try and save the mans arm. There were no other injuries in this crazy wreck.

Heavy damage in Fox Lake crash : A car traveling at a high speed northbound on Rt. 12 tried to pass two lanes of heavy traffic when the teenage driver lost control and hit a southbound car head-on. The crash trapped the teenage passenger and injured the driver of both cars. The Fox Lake FD extricated the female passenger from the black Honda and she was transported by Flight For Life in serious condition. Route 12 was shut down for a few hours causing a massive back-up of cars heading to Wisconsin for the weekend. A tow truck in route to clean up this wreck was hit by a vehicle making a U turn from the backed up traffic about a half mile north of the wreck and then a person was struck by a car about an hour later 1 mile south of the accident scene.

Head-on crash injuries off-duty police officer : A car crossed the center line on Rt. 59 in Ingleside causing a two car head-on collision that seriously injured an off-duty police officer. Two off-duty Fox Lake firefighters happened to be at a store right where the crash occured and started treatment asap. The driver of the Honda's lower body was badly trapped inside the vehicle and needed a lengthy extrication. The driver of the other vehicle also needed to be extricated. The policeman was transported by Flight For Life to Lutheran General.

Two dump trucks collide and roll-over in Antioch : The driver of a tractor-trailer dump druck had a heart attack, crossed the center line and side swipped another dump truck on Rt. 173 west of Rt. 59 in Antioch. The two trucks ended up a few 100 yards from each other. Several cars headed for the hills as the Mack dump truck shot down the road out of control. The Antioch Fire & Rescue Squad arrived at the scene to find cars off the road on both sides of Rt. 173, one truck inside the boat storage area leaking fuel and the other on it's side blocking the highway. The driver of the Mack did not survive and the driver of the Peterbuilt was transported by Antioch Rescue.

Driver falls a sleep, hits semi head-on : The driver of a car fell asleep and hit a semi head-on on Route 120 south of Fox Lake. The driver of the car was extricated by Fox Lake firefighters and then airlifted by Flight For Life in critical condition. The driver of the truck received minor injuries.

Landscaping & Utility truck collide in Fox Lake : A landscaping truck and a utility truck collided on Route 12 at the entrance to Home Depot and Menards in Fox Lake. The landscaping truck which was equipped with a water tank flipped over, trapping the driver and launching the water tank down the road. Tools and equipment from both trucks were thrown all over the intersection making a mess of traffic. Fox Lake firefighters extricated the driver of the pickup and he was transported by Wauconda FD paramedics. The other driver was transported by Round Lake FPD paramedics.

Truck hauling flammable gas overturns onto SUV. : A flatbed truck hauling a liquid oxygen container and two other tanks carring flammable gas overturned onto an SUV at Route 60 and 120 near Volo, shutting down both roads for a few hours. The Wauconda Fire Department was called to the scene and arrived to find a six wheeled flatbed truck that had taken the corner to fast and overturned, first hitting a excavator truck and then hitting the SUV. Three tanks containing flammable gas had broken free from the truck and the liquid oxygen tank was leaking. Both the driver and passenger of the overturned truck were trapped in the cab and needed to be extricated by Wauconda firefighters. The driver of the SUV escaped with only minor injuries. Once the occupants of the truck were extricated, the driver was flown to Lutheran General by Flight For Life and the passenger was transported by Wauconda Paramedics to MIMC. Both Fox Lake and Round Lake assisted at the scene with Squad Companies.

Car hits tree 10 feet above ground near Antioch (4-11-05) : A car full of teenagers attempted to pass a school bus and ran off the road into a ditch and went airborne, stricking a tree about 10 feet off the ground. The Antioch Fire Department and Antioch Rescue Squad extricated the patients and one was flown out by helicopter. The Fox Lake FD responded to the scene with an MICU.

Head-on collision fatally injures SUV driver in Lake Villa (Old Photos) : A car passing another vehicle on a curve collided with an SUV causing it to roll-over onto it's side. Lake Villa firefighters worked to extricated the badly trapped driver, assisted by crews from Round Lake. The driver died in route to the LZ.

Teenage driver saved from burning wreckage (Old Photo) : A car traveling at a high rate of speed missed a curve, hit a tree stump and went airborne into a line of trees and wrapped around a utlilty pole before bursting into flames. Somehow the teenage driver was pulled from the burning, twisted wreckage by a passing motorist.

Mini-Van tears apart pick-up in Round Lake Beach wreck : Kurt Disch caught these photos of Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District firefighters working a bad wreck located at Route 83 and Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach. A mini-van broadsided a pick-up truck, tearing it apart. The driver of the truck was air lifted by Flight For Life.
